Meet The Founders and Owners

Willie and Kat Villarreal

Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.), Willie Villarreal, and his wife Kat Villarreal, R.N., founded Core Health & Wellness in 2015. Core has grown from a clinic with a singular focus on Sports Recovery, to a multi-faceted Wellness Practice focused on optimizing health. With their medical accolades and business leadership, they are first and foremost spouses, parents to 4 children (Trina, Ryan, Sarah, & Emily), and grandparents to a little girl (Brynn).

Willie has worked in surgery for over 23 years as an RN First Assistant (RNFA). Previously specializing in Cardiovascular/Open Heart Surgery for many years before shifting focus to DaVinci Robotic Surgery over the last 15 years.  Working closely with Intuitive Surgical to advance the use of the DaVinci robot and helping to pioneer many of the current procedures and protocols now used by the Intuitive Surgical to train new surgeons and assistants. In December of 2019, Willie completed his Doctorate from Maryville University-St. Louis in December 2019 with a 2 year research study entitled, "Ketogenic Diet as 1st Line Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes". In his studies, he highlighted one approach used at Core Health & Wellness using Ketogenic Diet, exogenous ketones, and other modalities to successfully reverse metabolic syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes in our patients.

At Core Sports Health and Wellness, they specialize in optimizing human performance through Genetics, Hormone Therapy, Sports Performance & Recovery, Nutrition, and various Bio-Hacking modalities such as PEMF, and Whole Body Cryotherapy. Both Willie and Kat, have always prided themselves in trying to do things medically “outside-the-box” rather than simply over-medicating patients and making them life-long drug consumers.
